After a decade-long wait, Rockstar Games officially pulled back the curtain today on Grand Theft Auto 6. The debut trailer for the game revealed that players will be headed back to Vice City, as well as other locations based on the state of Florida. Rumors of a return to Vice City have been circulating online since at least 2018. Those rumors have now been confirmed, though Vice City is looking significantly different from the last time players visited. Rockstar is clearly taking advantage of the PS5 and Xbox Series X hardware, and the game's locations are looking impressive to say the least.

Vice City

Vice City first appeared as a location in the original Grand Theft Auto back in 1997. Each area in that game was based on a real-life city in the United States, with Vice City being inspired by Miami. In 2002, Vice City would make a comeback in a major way with the release of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. In that game, players were able to visit Vice City in 1986. GTA: Vice City was a major success for Rockstar, and is widely considered one of the best games in the series. The location appeared once again in GTA: Vice City Stories, which was released on Sony's PSP in 2006.

Despite its clear popularity and importance to the series, Vice City has been missing ever since. However, the location is poised to make a major comeback in GTA 6. From everything Rockstar has revealed thus far, GTA 6 seems to take place in the modern day, nearly four decades after the events that took place in GTA: Vice City. Given that, it will be interesting to see if the game features any specific references or callbacks to that game!

GTA 6 Platforms and Release Window

As of this writing, Grand Theft Auto 6 has been confirmed for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Presumably, the game will also release on PC, though the platform is conspicuously missing from Rockstar's announcements today. Given the fact that the rest of the series has been available on PC, it seems like a very safe bet GTA 6 will not be a console exclusive.

Unfortunately, the long wait for GTA 6 is going to be even longer, as the game is not set to release until 2025. Rockstar has not offered a more concrete window at this time, so we don't know if the game will arrive earlier in the year or later. The series has had precedent for both, with Grand Theft Auto V debuting in September 2013, and Grand Theft Auto IV in April 2008. At this point, it's anyone's guess, but with the release of the game's first trailer, GTA 6 feels closer to release than ever before.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered Trailer Shows Off New Survival Mode https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/the-last-of-us-part-ii-remastered-new-survival-mode-ps5/ Tue, 05 Dec 2023 03:50:00 +0000 Ricky Frech 930d5e8e-68a9-47ea-b115-d0e6b7f58523

When Naughty Dog announced that it was working on The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered for PlayStation 5, many players were wondering if it would be worth picking up. After all, the original game was released just a few short years ago, and a simple graphical update didn't seem like enough of a reason to revisit something so soon. However, the team quelled some concerns by announcing that they would also be adding new modes to the base game to give players even more to do. One of the most exciting modes is the No Return Mode, which turns The Last of Us Part 2's gameplay into a roguelike survival mode. Today, the team dropped a brand-new trailer showing off exactly what players can expect from this wild, new mode.

The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered No Return Mode

As you can see in the trailer above, this is largely the moment-to-moment gameplay that fans are used to. From that perspective, No Return isn't breaking too much new ground, but it's what the mode does with the combat that makes it intriguing. Before jumping into the mode, you'll need to select which character you want to use. Some of these characters will be locked by story progress, but you'll probably want to play through the base game anyway before hopping in. Here is a full list of characters known to be available in TLOU2's No Return Mode:

  • Ellie
  • Dina
  • Jesse
  • Tommy
  • Joel
  • Abby
  • Lev
  • Yara
  • Mel
  • Manny

Naughty Dog might add more characters before launch, but each character comes with their own set of traits to differentiate them from each other. For example, Jesse gets access to the Silencer and Pipe Bomb Recipe, making him a character you'll want to carefully use all your resources to get the most out of. Meanwhile, Manny has more health than other characters but can't craft Health Kits.

Of course, as you progress, you'll be able to upgrade your weapons to give you a better chance to survive the horrors of No Return Mode. Once you have your kit ready to go, you'll jump into a randomized series of levels. These all have randomly generated mods to keep things fresh (including one that seems to turn your enemies invisible), and it looks like you'll be fighting at least one boss character from the main story. Somewhat surprisingly, the Ratking shows up several times during the trailer, suggesting that it will be the main boss of the mode, though Naughty Dog could add more monsters to the mix over the next few months if it wants to keep players in the mode for an extended time.

Either way, fans don't have to wait much longer to check out the new No Return Mode and everything else coming to The Last of Part 2 Remastered. Naughty Dog's latest is due out on PlayStation 5 on January 19, 2024.

Super Nintendo World Japan Reveals First Look at Donkey Kong Country https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/super-nintendo-world-japan-donkey-kong-country-first-look-video/ Tue, 05 Dec 2023 02:42:00 +0000 Marc Deschamps 50592077-b456-4cf5-9c9a-c9aae0ffbb8a

Super Nintendo World will be expanding in spring 2024 with new attractions based on the Donkey Kong Country franchise. While this has been known for a while now, Universal Studios has released a trailer offering a look at some of the things attendees can expect to see. Unsurprisingly, the highlight seems to be a ride based on the mine cart stages that were a staple of the original SNES games. The whole trailer is fairly short, but viewers can glimpse several iconic elements from the games, including Funky Kong's airplane, the Golden Temple, and even DK's house!

The trailer for the Donkey Kong section of Super Nintendo World was uploaded by Dtimes and can be found below.

The Donkey Kong Country Games

Donkey Kong first appeared in his eponymous 1981 arcade game, where he served as the villain. That game also saw the debut of Mario, and the two would remain enemies in several follow-ups. In 1994, Nintendo and Rare would relaunch Donkey Kong in a brand-new game titled Donkey Kong Country. The original Donkey Kong was now a retired grump named Cranky, and the new DK and his buddy Diddy Kong took over the spotlight. In that game, the two characters set off on a quest to regain DK's stolen banana hoard, which had been taken by the Kremlings and their leader, King K. Rool.

Donkey Kong Country was a massive success for Nintendo, and two direct sequels released on the SNES. After Nintendo sold Rare to Microsoft in 2002, the Donkey Kong series seemed to lack direction. The character continued to appear in games like Donkey Konga and the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series, but the character's best days seemed to be behind him. That changed in 2010, when Donkey Kong Country Returns brought the series back to its former glory. A new adventure developed by Retro Studios, DKCR featured the same gameplay that made the SNES titles so beloved. The developer would release another game in 2014 titled Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.

The Future of Donkey Kong

Despite the popularity of Retro's Donkey Kong Country games, the franchise has once again gone missing, though Tropical Freeze did receive a Nintendo Switch port in 2018. Thankfully, Nintendo seems to be paying more attention to the big ape of late. Donkey Kong played a major role in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, appearing alongside Cranky Kong with a brief cameo by Diddy. A remake of 2004's Mario vs. Donkey Kong is also slated to release on February 16th. That isn't quite as exciting as a whole new game, but hopefully it will tide fans over until the next big one the character appears in. With the Donkey Kong Country attraction coming to Universal Studios Japan next year, it might be the perfect time for the character's next major title.

Are you excited for these new attractions at Super Nintendo World? Would you like to visit Universal Studios Japan? Share your thoughts with me directly on Twitter at @Marcdachamp or on Instagram at @Dachampgaming!

Grand Theft Auto 6: What Song Plays in the Trailer https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/grand-theft-auto-6-trailer-song/ Tue, 05 Dec 2023 02:40:00 +0000 Ricky Frech e7a1809f-e551-4253-b54c-ed5df8e98ec9

After an unfortunate leak, Rockstar Games dropped the trailer for GTA 6 a day early. Fans are picking the trailer apart for details that might hint about what GTA 6 will be about and what new activities they'll be able to dive into. However, one lingering question for some is what track is being played during the trailer. After all, this is a major event for most players, and many will want to add the song to their Spotify playlist to relive the trailer on the go. Fortunately, the answer to which song is used in the GTA 6 trailer is simple. It's "Love Is a Long Road" by Tom Petty.

Of course, Tom Petty fans will have immediately recognized the track in the GTA 6 trailer. "Love Is a Long Road" is from Petty's first solo album Full Moon Fever, which was released in 1989. The song was never released as its own single but was included as a B-Side for "Free Fallin" in the UK. Despite that, "Love Is a Long Road" peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Album Rock Tracks. Now that it's been included in one of the biggest trailers of all time, it seems likely that it'll shoot up the Spotify charts over the next few weeks.

Grand Theft Auto 6 Release Date

Unfortunately, Rockstar Games didn't give players a firm release date. Instead, fans got a release window of 2025. Obviously, that's very broad, and there's always a chance that GTA 6 will be delayed out of that calendar year, but it's at least a starting point. Hopefully, Rockstar will spend the rest of next year dropping new details about exactly what fans will be getting up to when Grand Theft Auto 6 finally launches.

After all, one of the more exciting aspects of the pre-release cycle for every previous Grand Theft Auto game is learning about all of the new minigames and systems that Rockstar has implemented. The initial trailer really only lets players see that they'll be driving cars, boats, and planes. We also get a peak at the supposed protagonist Lucia, but there's not too much else to go on.

Social media does factor in quite a bit for this first trailer, so it seems safe to assume that we'll likely get a healthy dose of that in both the story and gameplay. We also see two instances of alligators taking over houses and businesses. While far from confirmed, it wouldn't be surprising to see Rockstar announce some kind of animal control minigame for GTA 6. Outside of that, there's a scene showing several cars surrounding an intersection that could be hinting at illegal street races, but that's grasping at straws at this point.

Either way, we'll know more soon, as Rockstar will undoubtedly start to release more information in the coming months. For now, everyone is just waiting until 2025 when GTA 6 releases on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

GTA 6 Platforms Confirmed by Rockstar Games https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/gta-6-platforms-confirmed-rockstar-games-ps5-xbox-pc/ Tue, 05 Dec 2023 01:23:00 +0000 Ricky Frech f0420062-1c8e-494e-bafc-52b0867656bd

Developer Rockstar Games was scheduled to release the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 on December 5, but a poorly timed leak caused the developer to release the trailer early. With the trailer out in the wild, players all over the globe are starting their countdown to GTA 6's 2025 release window. However, in a new press release dropped alongside the trailer, Rockstar has made a surprising revelation about which systems GTA 6 is launching on. While things could change over the next year, Rockstar has only confirmed that GTA 6 is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, leaving out PC players, at least for now.

The news was first spotted by Video Games Chronicle, which noticed the messaging in one of Rockstar's press releases. It's worth noting that GTA 5 also didn't launch on PC when it came out in 2013. That game first launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 before coming to PS5 and Xbox One in 2014 and then PC in 2015. That means it took about 18 months before Rockstar was able to get Grand Theft Auto 5 onto PCs. It's quite possible that we'll see a similar timeframe for GTA 6, though it's impossible to know until Rockstar makes an announcement.

Grand Theft Auto 6's First Trailer

(Photo: Rockstar Games)

As mentioned, the first trailer for GTA 6 went live earlier today. It featured players' first look at what appears to be the new protagonist. Lucia seems to have just gotten out of prison in Vice City and is potentially joining forces with another character to go on a crime spree. If that turns out to the be case, Lucia would be the first female protagonist in a Grand Theft Auto game, though it seems likely that her partner (who is reportedly named Jason) might also be playable, taking cues from the trio of protagonists in GTA 5.

Either way, the real star of the first trailer is undoubtedly the city. In Rockstar's press release, it said that players will be exploring the state of Leonida, "home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond." Rockstar claims this is "the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet." Considering how massive the world looks in the first trailer, that's not too hard to believe.

Hopefully, we'll start to hear more about what Lucia (and potentially Jason) is getting up to down in Vice City. After all, the GTA series has long been known for its over-the-top story and a vast array of minigames. The trailer doesn't include too many hints outside of the standard offerings like boats and planes, but there are a few nuggets that could turn out to be incredible ways of fleshing out Leonida. For example, social media plays a heavy role in the trailer, which could be a hint at where the story is going. And who wouldn't want a minigame where you're hunting down alligators that have seemingly taken over the city?

Fans will have to wait at least a little bit longer to see exactly what Rockstar has up its sleeve. GTA 6 launches sometime in 2025 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

GTA 6 Trailer Spoofs Miami's Own "Real Life Joker" https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/gta-6-trailer-vice-city-miami-joker/ Tue, 05 Dec 2023 00:47:00 +0000 Tyler Fischer 52c37f20-5d74-4101-8031-6739ca2e3888

The GTA 6 trailer has been released a day early by Rockstar Games after a leaked version of the trailer surfaced online. We also have a 2025 release date for the game. And that's about all we have at the moment. Rockstar Games has not revealed any game details, leaving fans no choice but to dissect the trailer for information. And that's exactly what fans have been doing. The most obvious details that can be garnered from the trailer are the game's Vice City setting and the dual protagonists, one of which is male and one of which is female, named Jason and Lucia, respectively. There's a lot more hidden inside than just these major details though.

While some fans are blown away by the graphics of the trailer and are too busy to notice the finer details, others have been able to look past the next-gen graphics and notice a variety of different details. To this end, there seems to be a callback to a 2017/2018 story of a real-life joker in Florida. For those unfamiliar with this story, back in 2017 Lawrence Sullivan was arrested, and then again in 2018. His crimes were nothing noteworthy, but he caught national attention because of his resemblance to Joker.

Obviously, the character in the trailer is not a one-for-one of Sullivan, and there's no way to guarantee it was the intent of Rockstar Games, but that's how the Internet has taken the character. And considering where the game is set, and the fact the character is on the news for being arrested in the trailer, it seems pretty obvious that it's referencing Sullivan, but again, we can't know for sure.

What's also unclear is whether this is simply a callback for the purpose of the trailer or an actual character in the game. Knowing Rockstar Games, and considering the nature of the trailer, it's the former, but again it's possible this is a character in the game as Rockstar clearly went through the trouble of doing motion capture for the character and designing him.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to release worldwide sometime in 2025 via the PS5, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X. For more coverage on the highly-anticipated game, click here.

GTA 6 Fans Already Blown Away by the Graphics Following Trailer Reveal https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/gta-6-grand-theft-auto-graphics-trailer-reactions/ Tue, 05 Dec 2023 00:18:00 +0000 Marc Deschamps 0ff66225-2036-41ca-9371-2da73ece9f15

After literally years of anticipation, the trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 has finally been released. It's been a very long wait for fans of the franchise, but it seems to have been worth it. So far, reception to the trailer has been overwhelmingly positive, with a lot of praise for the game's visuals in particular. It's been 10 years since the release of Grand Theft Auto V, and it's clear that things have drastically improved since then. GTA 6 isn't set to arrive until sometime in 2025, so fans will have to wait patiently to see if the graphics look that impressive when the game is in-hand.

It's been interesting to see the reception to the trailer after all this time! It's impossible to overstate the level of hype and excitement that has surrounded GTA 6, but it's not surprising given the fact that GTA V is the second best-selling video game of all-time. Still, there has been a lot of ridiculousness that has surrounded this trailer's release. Over the last few years, we've seen a live game show interrupted by a fan demanding to know where the game is, and Gamescom Opening Night Live was similarly hijacked as host Geoff Keighley was joined on-stage by a fan looking for an update.

Rockstar will have a tall task meeting that level of hype, but so far, fans seem to be pretty enthusiastic about what's been shown. Keep reading to see what fans are saying about GTA 6!

Definitely an improvement over GTA V.

New Starfield Deal Includes Free Ice Cream https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/starfield-game-xbox-pc-buy-sale/ Mon, 04 Dec 2023 23:44:00 +0000 Logan Moore 0cb9c4c9-fa5f-42d3-9658-e057378719db

If you haven't purchased Bethesda and Xbox's latest RPG Starfield for yourself just yet, could some free ice cream potentially sway your purchase? In the months since Starfield first launched, Bethesda's spacefaring adventure title has slowly been getting discounted to coincide with the holiday season. Now, another new sale has popped up and it brings Starfield to one of its lowest prices yet, while also giving customers some free food in the process.

Over on Best Buy, Starfield is currently discounted by $20 across both Xbox Series X/S and PC to retail for $49.99. On its own, this is one of the best sales we've seen so far for Starfield when it comes to buying the game outright. As a way of (literally) sweetening this deal even more, though, Best Buy is also throwing in $10 worth of free ice cream that you can eat in tandem with playing Starfield.

As for the ice cream itself, it happens to be "Astronaut Ice Cream," which is how it's getting bundled with Starfield in the first place. This sweet treat comes in the form of an ice cream sandwich that includes strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate flavors. It also happens to be freeze-dried, which means that it won't melt in the process of being shipped to wherever you might live. On its own, this ice cream sandwich tends to cost $10, which means that this Starfield sale is saving you $30 overall. Still, if you were already in the market to buy Starfield, it's hard to turn down an ice cream sandwich as an added bonus.

Starfield

"Starfield is the first new universe in over 25 years from Bethesda Game Studios, the award-winning creators of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4. In this next generation role-playing game set amongst the stars, create any character you want and explore with unparalleled freedom as you embark on an epic journey to answer humanity's greatest mystery.

In the year 2330, humanity has ventured beyond our solar system, settling new planets, and living as a spacefaring people. You will join Constellation - the last group of space explorers seeking rare artifacts throughout the galaxy - and navigate the vast expanse of space in Bethesda Game Studios' biggest and most ambitious game."

EA Sports College Football 24 Keeps 2024 Release Window After Lawsuit Settlement https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/ea-sports-college-football-24-release-date-lawsuit-settlement/ Mon, 04 Dec 2023 23:31:00 +0000 Ricky Frech 313b3e7f-4f93-4bd6-b241-b92abd484fd8

Ever since the Name-Image-Likeness rules were implemented into the NCAA, video game fans have been waiting for EA Sports to return to its incredibly successful College Football franchise. Those fans' hopes were largely answered when EA announced that it was working on a new version of EA Sports College Football that was tentatively slated for summer 2024. However, that plan seemed to hit a bit of a snafu when The Brandr Group, which works to complete collegiate group licensing deals, filed a lawsuit against EA Sports in June. Fortunately, it appears that all of those issues have been ironed out because The Brandr Group has withdrawn its lawsuit over the weekend, paving the way for EA Sports College Football 24 to make its way to the market next year.

This news comes from On3.com, a site dedicated to following NIL deals and the business of sports in general. The core of the lawsuit came down to EA Sports partnering with OneTeam, which is one of The Brandr Group's main competitors, to complete NIL deals back in May. In a joint statement, the two groups announced an "amicable settlement of their past disputes related to college group licensing" and have "agreed to adopt a model that both complements their respective core businesses while separating and operating as completely independent companies."

EA Sports College Football 24 Release Date

Essentially, the two companies are working together to bring the best deal possible to collegiate athletes as part of EA's upcoming game. For its part, EA said, "We are pleased that BrandR has decided to withdraw their claims without any payment from EA. We've been clear from the beginning that this suit had no merit. Our focus continues to be on directly licensing individual college athlete name and likeness rights through an opt-in program that will give college athletes the choice if they want to be in our game. We're pleased to move on from these claims and look forward to delivering EA SPORTS College Football in Summer 2024."

As you can see, there are no longer any NIL-related roadblocks left that EA needs to clear. Obviously, things on the development side could push things back, but as long as players are willing to sign on, they'll be in the game as soon as it launches. Of course, EA hasn't given players much indication of what will be included when the game does launch.

Thus far, all we really know is that the developers are planning to make Dynasty its "flagship mode." That's a bit surprising when you consider how much money Electronic Arts makes from microtransactions in its Ultimate Team modes. College Football 24 will likely still have a card-collecting mode, but it might be a bit more barebones than sports fans are used to for the first year. Alternatively, EA could look at ways to add microtransactions into Dynasty Mode through cosmetics and recruiting bonuses. Regardless, Dynasty Mode fans can rest easy that the mode will remain one of the main modes in NCAA College Football 24.

GTA 6 Release Date Revealed https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/gta-6-release-date-2025/ Mon, 04 Dec 2023 23:23:00 +0000 Tyler Fischer b3c71fb5-d7bb-497c-a75f-b065a0bcc7e2

The official GTA 6 trailer has been revealed by Rockstar Games moments after an anonymous leaker leaked it online early. As you may know, the trailer was not supposed to go live until tomorrow, December 5, however, the leak changed these plans, and now we have finally have the trailer and a 2025 release date. When in 2025 the game will release, Rockstar Games doesn't say. All it is saying for now is sometime in 2025.

As you may know, GTA 5 notably released in September of 2013, and after that, Red Dead Redemption 2 released in October of 2018. In other words, a fall 2025 release date seems likely, but right now this is just speculation based on previous release patterns by Rockstar Games.

While there is mention of a 2025 release date, there is no mention of platforms. The game is presumably in development for PS5, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X. Meanwhile, PC is a distinct possibility, though PC releases usually come after launch with Rockstar Games. What is less likely is the game will come to Nintendo Switch, PS4, or Xbox One in 2025. However, by the time 2025 comes out the rumored Nintendo Switch 2 should be out, so there's a chance Nintendo fans will get to enjoy this highly-anticipated title as well.

As for game details, there's currently none. Rockstar Games has not provided a single detail. We know the song in the trailer is "Long is a Long Road" by Tom Petty, and that's all we know other than what it's in the actual trailer. And the actual trailer confirms previous rumors and leaks, which is to say confirms the game is set in Vice City, the series fictional take on Miami. It also confirms the dual protagonist, one being female and the other being male.

As always, feel free to leave a comment or two letting us know what you think or alternatively, hit me up on Twitter @Tyler_Fischer_ and let me know over there. What do you think of our first look at GTA 6 and what do you think about the game releasing in 2025? Are you excited for it? What platform will you be picking it up on?

Xbox Boss Says There are "No Plans" to Bring Game Pass to Switch and PS5 https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/xbox-game-pass-phil-spencer-no-plans-game-pass-nintendo-switch-ps5/ Mon, 04 Dec 2023 23:12:00 +0000 Marc Deschamps 160315aa-1c5b-44a3-8d2c-607b92790d62

Last week, Xbox CFO Tim Stuart made headlines at the Wells Fargo TMT Summit when he stated his desire to bring Game Pass "to every screen that can play games," specifically listing PlayStation and Nintendo as possibilities. In a new interview with Windows Central, Xbox boss Phil Spencer walked back that statement, outright stating that Microsoft has "no plans" to bring the service to competing gaming platforms. In the interview, Spencer stated that he sees Game Pass as a reason to own an Xbox console, and he's focused on making sure that buyers feel justified in making that purchase.

"I'll start by saying we have no plans to bring Game Pass to PlayStation or Nintendo. It's not in our plans. But I think you hit on the right point of 'what it means to own an Xbox.' The thing I want to be focused on is how do we continue to innovate for people who've made the commitment to our hardware platform? And how do we continue to make sure that they feel great about their investment in what we've built," Spencer told Windows Central.

Game Pass Exclusivity

Exclusives are the biggest selling point for any video game system, and Game Pass remains one of the most compelling reasons to own an Xbox. The service gives subscribers access to first-party exclusives like Starfield, Hi-Fi Rush, and Forza Motorsport, as well as a bunch of third-party games like Gotham Knights, Persona 4 Golden, and Sea of Stars. By putting Game Pass on other platforms, Microsoft could kill one of the biggest selling points for Xbox consoles. That doesn't even take into consideration the technical hurdles that Xbox would have to clear just to make it happen, especially on Nintendo Switch.

While there are no plans to bring Game Pass to other systems, Switch and PlayStation users can still expect to see some of Microsoft's games released. Microsoft signed contracts with Nintendo and Sony to ensure Call of Duty games release on Switch and PlayStation. Microsoft published games like Minecraft have also been made available, and have performed quite well on those platforms. Microsoft's relationship with Nintendo has also led to Rare developed games like Banjo-Kazooie and Jet Force Gemini releasing on Nintendo Switch Online.

Xbox Game Pass in December

The month of December is officially here, and for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, that means access to a whole bunch of new games. On December 5th, the service will add Clone Drone in the Danger Zone, Rise of the Tomb Raider, While the Iron's Hot, and World War Z: Aftermath. Later this month, Goat Simulator 3 (December 7th), Against the Storm (December 8th), Tin Hearts (December 12th), and Far Cry 6 (December 14th) will all be made available. Goat Simulator 3 will not be accessible to Xbox One users (except through cloud gaming), while Against the Storm will only be available through Game Pass for PC.

GTA 6 First Trailer Officially Revealed https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/gta-6-trailer-release-date-rockstar-games/ Mon, 04 Dec 2023 23:11:00 +0000 Tyler Fischer 849ed2a8-500d-4bd3-8059-70688d43faf5

The first GTA 6 trailer has been revealed, giving Grand Theft Auto fans their first look at what Rockstar Games has been working on since the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA 5 before it. There have been rumors and "leaks" teasing a GTA 6 trailer for several years, but the wait is finally over. GTA 6 is finally happening, and Grand Theft Auto fans only had to wait two console generations to see it happen. Unfortunately, the trailer is accompanied not by a 2024 release date, but a 2025 release date.

Rockstar Games first confirmed Grand Theft Auto VI back on February 4, 2022. This was years and years after endless rumors, reports, and leaks about the game though. And since this confirmation, it's been a painful wait for GTA fans. Unfortunately, for Rockstar Games, on September 18, 2022 a very early build of the game leaked online, which means this trailer isn't technically the world's first look at the project, but it's the world's first real look at the game. And as you would expect, it looks quite different to the early build of the game that leaked last year.

When GTA 6 releases, it will be the eighth mainline installment and the 16th installment overall. It's still unclear how long the game has been in development for. GTA 5 obviously came out in 2013, but then Rockstar Games began work on Read Dead Redemption 2, which didn't come out until 2018. Whether the game went through pre-production before this, we don't know, but reliable sources relayed in 2020 the game was in the early stages of development. If this timeline is accurate, it's been in development for a handful of years at this point.

Not only have rumors claimed the game has been in development for a bit now, but they've claimed it's set to be the most expensive game ever made. Of course, throwing more money at a project not only increases the scope and refinement of that product, but also, usually, speeds up the development process as well.

GTA 6 Trailer Reportedly Leaks Online https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/gta-6-trailer-leak/ Mon, 04 Dec 2023 22:55:00 +0000 Tyler Fischer 3e0ba078-c6b3-4d9b-b4c9-7eebe0fb6989

Grand Theft Auto fans should be cautious of spoilers ahead of the release of the official GTA 6 trailer, which Rockstar Games is scheduled to release tomorrow, December 5. All GTA fans should, more specifically, be cautious while browsing social media and the Internet at large between now and tomorrow as an alleged leaked trailer of GTA 6 has surfaced online and is beginning to make the rounds. And there's no room to doubt its validity.

We will not be linking to the footage, but it's 91 seconds long just like we know and reveals a ton of other previously leaked and rumored details. That said, if you don't want even slight spoilers ahead of the trailer, you should be cautious between now and tomorrow as this leak will likely to start to spread. To this end, various industry insiders and GTA-specific insiders have begun to warn of this happening.

At the moment of publishing, Rockstar Games has not commented on the leaked video and the speculation it has created. If this changes, we will update the story accordingly. Further, if a reliable source debunks the alleged leak, or undeniable evidence of it being fake presents itself, we will also update the story with this salient information. That said, the trailer looks very legit and sources in the know are reporting it as legit. Further, the fact Rockstar Games took it down very quickly also suggests it is real. In the meantime, take everything here with a grain of salt as this is a leak and not official information.

On November 17, developer Electronic Arts introduced a new promo called FC Pro Live. For the first time in the franchise's long history, in-game cards in Ultimate Team will be connected to EA Sports FC 24's real-world pro tournament. These cards can be upgraded based on how those pro players perform, giving them a massive boost if a player can win the whole thing. With that in mind, you'll want to keep up to date with the weekly competition when it kicks off on November 28. Below, you'll find an explanation for how EA Sports FC 24 cards can be upgraded and a list tracking which card is set to get an upgrade after each week's pro games.

How Does the FC Pro Live Event Work in EAFC 24?

Each in-game Ultimate Team card is tied to a specific pro player. If that player can perform well in the tournament, that card will then get upgraded. There are a total of five upgrade milestones for each card if its respective pro can win the whole tournament. Here are the five upgrade milestones:

  • 3 Points Earned by Pro Player - +1 In Form Upgrade
  • 6 Points Earned by Pro Player - +1 Regular PlayStyle, +1 Alternate Position
  • 10 Points Earned by Pro Player - +1 In Form Upgrade
  • Qualification for Next Round - +1 In From Upgrade, +1 PlayStyle+
  • Pro Player Wins the Championship - +1 In Form Upgrade, +1 Skill Move Rating, +1 Weak Foot Rating

Below is a collection of every in-game card and the player they are connected to. As the tournament progresses, this list will update to show you which players are due for an upgrade.

EAFC 24 FC Pro Open Schedule

The 20 pro players will begin the group stage on November 27 and the tournament will continue through February 3. Every week, the event will kick off at noon CT. Here is the full schedule:

The Last of Us Part 3 Theories Potentially Debunked by TLOU Actor https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/last-of-us-3-tlou-jeffrey-pierce-quotes/ Mon, 04 Dec 2023 22:16:00 +0000 Logan Moore 125fe9a3-f5fc-40e0-b8d2-e3a938955f69

One of the primary actors tied to Naughty Dog's The Last of Us franchise has potentially shot down the notion that The Last of Us Part 3 is currently in the works. Over the past year, speculation has continued to grow that Naughty Dog is in the process of working on a third mainline The Last of Us installment. For the time being, those at Naughty Dog itself have been very quiet about what it's doing next, but now, one actor with big ties to the series seems to be encouraging fans not to get their hopes up just yet.

In a conversation with Dexerto, Jeffrey Pierce, who plays Tommy Miller in both The Last of Us and The Last of Us Part II, said that he hasn't seen a script for a third game just yet. Pierce stressed that he's personally not aware if the game is happening which means that he could simply be in the dark if it is in the works. Despite so much being left unknown for now, Pierce also mentioned that he believes the script for a third entry would be "perfect" as the previous games both were in his mind as well.

"At this point, it's not something that has begun in any fashion. At least, not that I know of," Pierce said. "I would hate to set myself up to have expectations about what it would be and then have it be something completely different. [..] I'm going to trust when Neil hands me a script that it's going to be perfect because that's the way it's been up until now. And when that happens and I'm asked about The Last of Us Part 3, I have to say I have no idea what you're talking about."

Even though Pierce doesn't seem to think that The Last of Us Part 3 is in development right now, he could always be lying, as this has happened countless times in the past with other actors across TV, film, and video games. As mentioned, Pierce himself also might simply be out of the loop when it comes to the potential of The Last of Us Part 3. Even though it would make sense for his character to appear in another installment in some capacity, perhaps Naughty Dog is looking to not include Tommy in a new title for one reason or another.

Regardless of what the future for The Last of Us holds, Naughty Dog and PlayStation have recently confirmed that a revamped version of the second game, dubbed The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, will be coming to PS5 next month on January 19. The physical version of TLOU 2 Remastered is also set to go up for pre-order tomorrow on December 5 and will come with a number of extras that haven't been released previously.

Five Nights at Freddy's Crosses $300 Million to Become 2023's Highest Grossing Horror Movie https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/five-nights-at-freddys-fnaf-300-million-2023-biggest-horror-movie/ Mon, 04 Dec 2023 21:58:00 +0000 Marc Deschamps fbd0283f-6270-4b31-8512-a7d9083f92e1

The horror genre has seen a lot of success over the last few years, and 2023 has had much to celebrate. In particular, movies like Scream VI, Thanksgiving, and Insidious: The Red Door have all proven to be success stories at the box office. However, none of these movies were nearly as successful as Five Nights at Freddy's. The movie recently crossed $300 million at the global box office, making it the year's highest-grossing horror film. At this time, Blumhouse has not officially announced a sequel, but rumors have suggested that director Emma Tammi will return for Five Nights at Freddy's 2.

The success of Five Nights at Freddy's is all the more impressive considering the movie received a simultaneous release on Peacock. That could have easily cut down on the movie's theatrical performance, but clearly fans of the games were still willing to go see it on the big screen.

2023: The Year of Video Game Movies

Five Nights at Freddy's marked Blumhouse's first movie based on a video game. While 2023 has been a big year for horror, it's also been a huge one for video game adaptations; The Super Mario Bros. Movie released back in April, earning more than $1 billion at the global box office, while The Last of Us proved to be a huge hit for HBO when it debuted in January. Projects like these are proving to studios that there's a lot of interest in faithful video game adaptations, and that can translate to big success. In fact, Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum told Discussing Film earlier this year that the studio is interested in adapting other games into horror movies.

It's worth noting that Blum's comments came months prior to the release of Five Nights at Freddy's. Now that the movie is out and a big success story for Blumhouse, it's all the more likely that we'll see more releases inspired by major games. We don't know what will come next for the company, but Five Nights at Freddy's 2 is the safest bet.

2024 Video Game Adaptations

Blumhouse won't be the only studio chasing the success of video game adaptations at the box office. A number of other major video game adaptations are currently in the works and slated to release in 2024. Next year, Warner Bros. will be releasing Mortal Kombat 2 in theaters, while Paramount will have Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Streaming services will also have some big name adaptations, including Halo Season 2 on Paramount+ and Fallout on Amazon. It remains to be seen whether any of these will prove as successful as The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Five Nights at Freddy's, or The Last of Us, but it's clear that studios are trying to find the next big video game movie or TV show.

Are you surprised by the success of Five Nights at Freddy's? Did you check out the film in theaters? Share your thoughts with me directly on Twitter at @Marcdachamp or on Instagram at @Dachampgaming!

Fallout TV Show Creators View the Series as Fallout 5 https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/fallout-5-tv-show-series-bethesda/ Mon, 04 Dec 2023 21:50:00 +0000 Logan Moore d84aefbb-2374-4b1e-bec2-af71ce321b6a

Those in charge of Prime Video's upcoming Fallout TV series have said that they're personally trying to view the show as Fallout 5. Rather than look to adapt any of the stories from one of the main Fallout games, the 2024 TV show is going to introduce a new cast of characters and a new locale that hasn't previously been seen in the franchise. To that end, the showrunners in charge of Fallout tried to approach the show as a wholly new installment in the way that Fallout 5 would be rather than tying it too closely to anything in particular from the video games.

During a new conversation at CCXP, Fallout's co-showrunner Graham Wagner opened up about the TV adaptation and what it has been like to develop. Although stressing that he didn't want to share too much about the show and its story, Wagner said that those helming the project intentionally tried to distance it from the timelines seen in the Fallout games. To help with this, Wagner said that they tried to look at the show as Fallout 5 rather than a typical video game adaptation.

"We didn't start from a place of characters from the games. We set things after," Wagner said. "We kind of told ourselves, 'This is Fallout 5, this is just another installation, and we're starting with fresh snow.' But as things go on, things go on. So yeah, again, I am really desperate not to spoil stuff, leave it at that I guess."

Even though Graham and those leading up the development of Fallout might be trying to see it as Fallout 5 for themselves, the real Fallout 5 is a game that Bethesda has said that they'll make one day. In fact, just last year, Bethesda director Todd Howard confirmed that Fallout 5 would be the studio's next project after it releases The Elder Scrolls 6. Given that the next Elder Scrolls game is still many years away, though, Fallout 5 is something that won't feasibly see the light of day until 2030 or beyond. As such, this Prime Video series is likely going to have to take the place of Fallout 5 for many fans in the interim, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

As of this moment, Fallout is only a few months out from its debut on Prime Video which is set to hit on April 12, 2024. Until that time, you can check out the first teaser trailer for the show at the top of the page.

Vampire Survivors Adventures Patch Launches This Week https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/vampire-survivors-adventures-patch-release-date-xbox-switch-pc/ Mon, 04 Dec 2023 21:15:00 +0000 Ricky Frech be9b381f-51a9-44f7-8d82-ca1449a32ebe

Last month, Vampire Survivors developer poncle announced that it would be bringing a new mode to the mega-popular game. Unlike many of the big content drops that have hit Vampire Survivors this year, the new Adventures Mode is a free addition. While poncle is absolutely still working on extra content backs, Adventures, much like co-op is going to be too core to the experience to be something the developers don't give to everyone. Today, the team has finally revealed when Adventures Mode is coming to Vampire Survivor, and it's coming much sooner than you might think.

Vampire Survivors Adventures Mode Release Date

Adventures Mode is coming to Vampire Survivors on December 6 on PC and Xbox. Adventures isn't going to be quite ready for Nintendo Switch and mobile by then, but it'll eventually launch across the board. It's a bold choice from poncle to drop the new game mode sandwiched between the date that Rockstar will finally drop the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 and The Game Awards 2023, but if anyone can pull it off, it's Vampire Survivors.

What is Adventures Mode in Vampire Survivors?

In its description, poncle says Adventures Mode is a "self-contained miniature story mode that reset and remix the game's content, following the Survivors cast on a series of wacky sidequests." Each new quest you hop into has its own progression path, meaning you'll "start from scratch" and won't have access to any of the upgrades you've earned during the course of the main game. You'll have a limited set of gear that you need to use to overcome the various challenges present in each Adventure. Once you've beaten any of the side quests, you'll be able to "Ascend" it, giving your character a passive boost for that specific Adventure to make it easier the next time you jump in. By doing this, you'll be able to quickly rack up rewards.

At launch, there will be two base Adventures that everyone has access to out of the gate. However, everyone who owns The Legacy of the Moonspell DLC will get access to an extra Adventure. From there, players will get access to new Adventures each time a new patch or DLC drops. Of course, we don't know when the next patch or DLC is coming, but the developers usually don't go very long between updates, so you can probably expect to see the next one pop up relatively soon in 2024.

Vampire Survivors is available now on Xbox, Switch, mobile, and PC platforms. The Adventures Mode drops on December 6 for PC and Xbox, and it will eventually come to Switch and mobile.

GTA 6 Fans Think They've Discovered the Trailer Song https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/gta-6-trailer-song/ Mon, 04 Dec 2023 21:11:00 +0000 Tyler Fischer 00971e91-700e-426e-aac6-f0f57ee043e6

The GTA 6 trailer song has possibly been discovered by Grand Theft Auto fans. Of course, a strong emphasis should be put on "possibly." As you will know by now, tomorrow, December 5, is the day Rockstar Games finally unveils GTA 6 to the world. Going into the trailer, we have no idea what to expect. We know the trailer is 91 seconds long, but this is all we know. That said, this could prove to be an important detail.

Yesterday, a song was uploaded to YouTube with an image in the style of GTA 6 promotion. This just seem to be an unknown artist trying to capitalize on the GTA 6 hype, however, there's an interesting detail about the song: it is 91 seconds long. Now, if this was uploaded today, it would not be noteworthy. However, it's been uploaded the day before Rockstar Games revealed the trailer is 91 seconds long.

So, is this a coincidence? Or s there some type of next level wizardry going on? Or is this a genuine leak? We don't know, but it's caught the attention of Grand Theft Auto fans ahead of the trailer's release.

As for the song itself, it's called Genesis - That's All (Mandalus Remix). For what it is worth, it sounds like it could be the reveal trailer song. And even more than this, it's been rumored that a remix of Genesis - That's All was going to be used in the reveal trailer for over a year. These rumors came from 4chan though.

Take everything here with a grain of salt. All we have is speculation. There is some strange connecting dots, but coincidences do exist. And GTA 6 leaks are weird. Just this weekend we reported of some leaked footage about the game and it's reported that leaked footage came from the son of a lead developer on the game. The GTA 6 rumors and leaks have been a wild ride from day one, but the rollercoaster ride is finally almost over. As for Rockstar Games, it has not commented on any of this, nor has any other implicated party. If this changes, we will update the story accoridngly.

Pokemon Go Accidentally Leaks Community Day Details https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/pokemon-go-community-day-details-timeless-travels/ Mon, 04 Dec 2023 20:28:00 +0000 Marc Deschamps 381799e2-90b9-461d-b7a5-bf5519689909

Last month, Pokemon Go developer Niantic revealed the dates for all of this season's Community Day events. At the time, no information was revealed about which Pokemon would get the spotlight, but it has since been revealed that Rowlet and Porygon will appear on January 6th and 20th, respectively, while Chansey will appear in an event on February 4th. Oddly enough, that announcement has since been deleted. It is unusual for a whole season's worth of Pokemon Go Community Day announcements to be made at once, so it's possible some kind of mistake was made. For now, readers should take this with a grain of salt pending (another) announcement.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Out of all of these announcements, Rowlet is perhaps the least surprising! After all, this season is Timeless Travels, and the game has been putting a focus on elements that appeared in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Rowlet was one of three starter Pokemon available in that game, alongside Oshawott and Cyndaquil. Those three Pokemon all had unique final evolutions in the game, which will make their debut in Pokemon Go during Timeless Travels. Hisuian Samurott appeared during a Raid Day event on December 3rd, and it seems likely the game will do the same for Hisuian Typhlosion and Hisuian Decidueye. Unfortunately, no further details have been revealed at this time.

In addition to these three Hisuian variants, Timeless Travels will see the debut of at least two new Pokemon. Wyrdeer is the evolved form of Stantler, and first appeared in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. This season won't exclusively focus on the Hisui region; the game's current load screen has also revealed that Drampa will be coming soon. A green and white colored dragon, Drampa first appeared in Pokemon Sun and Moon.

Catch Mastery Event

pokemon-go-catch-mastery.jpg
(Photo: Pokemon)

In addition to the Community Day reveals, Pokemon Go has also announced a new Catch Mastery event set to take place this weekend. The event will begin on December 9th at 10 a.m. local time and will run through 8 p.m. local time. Catch Mastery will put an emphasis on Ice-types, with Snorunt and Bergmite appearing more frequently in the wild. Cryogonal will also be getting a big focus, and players can expect to see it when they complete Field Research tasks. Shiny versions of all three of those Pokemon will be appearing more frequently during the event, adding an extra incentive to participate.

During the event, players can also expect to see special Timed Research, which will focus on catching Ice-type Pokemon. There will be 10 sets of research tasks to complete, and players that finish it all will encounter 40 Cryogonal in total. That sounds like a great way for players to increase their odds of finding a Shiny!

Are you excited for these new Community Day events in Pokemon Go? Do you plan on participating in this weekend's Catch Mastery event? Share your thoughts with me directly on Twitter at @Marcdachamp or on Instagram at @Dachampgaming!

HeroQuest Path of the Wandering Monk introduces male and female Monk hero options to the game with 2 miniatures, a scroll, and 7 game cards, including 4 double-sided ability cards with Elemental Style combat techniques based on the elements of Wind, Earth, Water, and Fire. From the official description: "Know not the path, but the reason you walk it." Walk in the wise Monk hero's shoes and expand your HeroQuest adventure with the Path of the Wandering Monk figures! From the official description:

"The dramatic story of treachery and unrest in the elven kingdom continues in this HeroQuest Rise of the Dread Moon expansion! As a brave knight, you're challenged to finally free Elethorn from the clutches of Zargon. Embark on dangerous quests, as you seek the aid of the Cadre of the Raven's Veil to help stop Zargon's forces of Dread from destroying the kingdom. Navigate through a dark labyrinth of waterways, an underground city, and more perilous locations. But be wary--for Zargon's forces grow ever stronger with the rise of the Dread Moon! Immerse yourself in the adventure with 10 daring quests, stunning artwork, 29 detailed miniatures, and full-color tiles. Requires HeroQuest Game System to play (sold separately)."

HeroQuest was a popular line of dungeon-crawling board games released in the 1980s. The game's core game system allowed a dungeon master to build their own dungeon, challenging players as they descended into a castle or dungeon to complete various quests. The quests were often part of an overarching story, and players could use the items they gained in quests on future expeditions. Hasbro stopped producing expansions for HeroQuest in 1992, although a video game based the board game came out in 1994. In September 2020, Hasbro obtained the trademark for HeroQuest (which was also used for an unrelated tabletop RPG) from Chaosium, paving the way for the game's official re-launch.

"In the Avalon Hill HeroQuest Game System Tabletop Board Game, heroes work together to complete epic quests, find treasures and defeat the forces of evil. This semi-cooperative board game has one player taking on the role of Zargon, the Game Master, while 4 mythical heroes - Barbarian, Dwarf, Elf, and Wizard--team up in their quest for adventure in a maze of monsters and eerie dark dungeons. Players can immerse themselves in the fantasy with the stunning artwork, and 65+ detailed miniatures. The game comes with 14 quests, and has limitless replayability because players can also build their own quests and create their own stories. Gather friends together for an exciting night of tabletop gameplay in an epic battle of good and evil. The game is for 2-5 players, ages 14 and up."

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf Reveals Multiple Settings https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/dragon-age-dreadwolf/ Mon, 04 Dec 2023 19:38:00 +0000 Tyler Fischer 7fd5b5bc-0b7b-4281-8529-8ca3fb490e15

To celebrate Dragon Age Day, BioWare has released a new teaser trailer for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, and relayed word that the game will be fully revealed summer 2024. These are the two salient updates out of BioWare today, but there also some new details about the upcoming game. Previously, it was believed the game would solely take place in the Tevinter Imperium. And it will take place here, but it won't only take place here. According to the aforementioned new details, there are multiple locations players will be visiting over the course of the game.

More specifically, players will also be journeying to Antiva, best known as the home of the The Antivan Crows, an elite organization of thieves, spies, and assassins. In addition to this, players will also set foot in the Anderfels, best known as the birthplace of the Grey Wardens and the site of their headquarters, Weisshaupt Fortress. And lastly there is Rivain, a place that does not believe in the Maker, that is shrouded in mysticism, and that we don't know much about because it's been historically more isolated.

"This time, however, much more of Thedas is yours to see. The desolate, beautiful badlands of the Anderfels with curtains of distant mountainous spires. The twisting canals and gleaming towers of Antiva, where Crows may lurk in any shadow. The turquoise seas of Rivain with its rushes of greenery and hardy sea-faring people. And of course, there's more."

What "more" entails here, who knows. If there were any more major locations, you'd think they would be disclosed, but it's also possible BioWare wants to save some surprises for the full reveal. Whatever the case, below you can read some newly-provided details one each of these locations.

  • Rivain: "Upon eastern shores and sunkissed sands, the Lords of Fortune no longer hold dominion over the coasts of Rivain-not when dragons are growing bolder and laying waste to their ships."
  • Antiva: "Ever the pinnacle of mystery and intrigue, the Crows watch from the deep shadows of beautiful Antiva. Something, however, is amiss, and they are set on uncovering the source."
  • Anderfels: "To the far west, three Grey Wardens patrol the Anderfels. Tremors have been creating disturbances of late. Their cause is unknown. Upon the distant horizon, a storm of ominous intent brews and darkens the skies.

Fortnite Teases Return of Fortnite OG in 2024 https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/fortnite-og-season-2024-tease/ Mon, 04 Dec 2023 18:54:00 +0000 Logan Moore a8f42507-403b-4fdb-8f5e-b37a1dfc4cef

Epic Games has indicated that it will be bringing back the hugely popular Fortnite OG mode at some point in the coming year. Prior to the launch of Chapter 5 Season 1 of Fortnite this past weekend, Epic rolled back the clock and brought back the battle royale game's original map for a brief period of time. By making this move, Fortnite saw a massive influx of players during OG's brief run, which has now led to Epic saying that it will likely bring back this format soon enough.

In a post on social media, Epic said that Fortnite OG "far exceeded" the expectations that the developer had for the seasonal mode. As a result of this success, it was then teased that the 2024 roadmap for Fortnite is now being changed to accommodate a return for Season OG during the calendar year. Epic didn't have anything else to say on the matter for the time being, but it's apparent that those who have loved Fortnite OG will have the chance to

"[Not gonna lie] the OG season far exceeded our expectations," Epic said in a post from the official Fortnite X (formerly Twitter) account. "So much so that we'd like to bring it back [opens 2024 roadmap doc]. In the meantime, see you on the Battle Bus."

Even if Fortnite OG does come back at a time in 2024, it likely won't be until the back half of the year. As mentioned, Chapter 5 Season 1 of Fortnite just kicked off within the past day and is poised to run until March 2024. After this time, rumors have already suggested that Chapter 5 Season 2 of Fortnite will then run until the summer. Beyond this, Epic's larger plans for Fortnite haven't been formally announced or rumored just yet, which means that Fortnite OG is something that surely wouldn't be added back to the game until the later months of 2024.

Still, how do you feel about Fortnite OG being a new rotating season that Epic brings back on a regular basis? And have you played Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 for yourself yet? Let me know either down in the comments section or reach out to me on social media at @MooreMan12.

Fallout 76 Players Get New Freebie Tied to Fallout TV Show https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/fallout-76-fo76-bethesda-free-item/ Mon, 04 Dec 2023 17:35:00 +0000 Logan Moore b089c3f4-9be2-4fba-b53a-43bf5f1c2bf3

Bethesda is giving Fallout 76 players a new item for no cost whatsoever to tie in with the upcoming Fallout TV show on Prime Video. After a prolonged wait, the first trailer for Fallout was finally shown off this past weekend to coincide with CCXP. Rather than adapting the story seen in any specific Fallout game, the TV series is set to center a new cast of characters set within a new region of the United States. Just because this show will be different from the games, though, doesn't mean that Bethesda isn't looking to do some unique cross-promotional content as a way of building up excitement.

From now until December 12, Bethesda is giving out a free Vault 33 jumpsuit in Fallout 76 via the game's Atomic Shop. This Vault 33 outfit is meant to resemble the same one from Fallout, as the show's mysterious main protagonist happens to hail from this fortified atomic bunker. All in all, this is a cool in-game item for Bethesda to hand out to fans in Fallout 76, even though it's nothing game-changing by any means. Still, given that this is a limited time freebie, you'll have to act fast if you want to snag it for yourself.

As for the Fallout show, Prime Video is finally beginning to open up far more about the series. Outside of revealing the first teaser trailer for the series, it's known that Fallout Season 1 will start releasing on Prime Video next year on April 12, 2024. The series is being helmed by Graham Wagner and Genever Robertson-Dworet and will feature actors and actresses that include Ella Purnell, Walton Goggins, Kyle MacLachlan, Xelia Mendes-Jones, Aaron Clifton Moten, and Michael Emerson, among others.

What do you think about Bethesda promoting the Fallout TV series within Fallout 76? And are you hoping to see more content like this roll out in the weeks and months ahead? Be sure to let me know either down in the comments section or reach out to me on social media at @MooreMan12.

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf Releases New Trailer, "Full Reveal" Coming Summer 2024 https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/dragon-age-dreadwolf-trailer-day/ Mon, 04 Dec 2023 17:10:00 +0000 Tyler Fischer 0bbfa64c-33a3-42d7-9393-d9c93a975113

To celebrate Dragon Age Day, BioWare and EA have released a new teaser trailer for the upcoming Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, the first installment in the Dragon Age series since 2014's Dragon Age: Inquisition. Unfortunately, the teaser trailer doesn't feature much, but it does come with the promise that a "full reveal" is coming summer 2024. This is going to be a painful wait for Dragon Age fans who have already witness this project go through development year for many years. Of course, it also begs the question: when the heck is this thing going to release?

A late 2024 release is still on the table, but it's not mega common for large AAA games to be revealed and released in the same year, suggesting this game may not be out until 2025, which some previous rumors have suggested.

As for the trailer itself, it's dubbed "Thedas Calls," and is accompanied by the following flavor text: "Enter Thedas, a vibrant land of rugged wilderness, treacherous labyrinths, and glittering cities - steeped in savage combat and secret magics. Now, its fate teeters on a knife's edge."

For those interested there are more minute details on the upcoming game in a new blog post from BioWare, which in turn reveals the game will takes places across several locations within Thedas rather than be limited to a single part of it like previous games.

"This time, however, much more of Thedas is yours to see. The desolate, beautiful badlands of the Anderfels with curtains of distant mountainous spires," writes BioWare of the game. "The twisting canals and gleaming towers of Antiva, where Crows may lurk in any shadow. The turquoise seas of Rivain with its rushes of greenery and hardy sea-faring people. And of course, there's more. We felt this was best for the tale we wanted to tell this time and we hope you enjoy it as much as we have! It's allowed us to create many more locations than past games, including both some you've longed to go to...and some you've never heard of before!"

In addition to a release date, there's still no mention of platforms either. We will presumably hear more about both of these things during the "full reveal" this coming summer.

Spy x Family Pits Yor Against Chun-Li in Special Street Fighter Anime https://comicbook.com/anime/news/spy-x-family-street-fighter-anime/ Mon, 04 Dec 2023 16:39:00 +0000 Megan Peters c45d9301-4800-4f12-86e2-2efd642f419c

These days, Spy x Family is everywhere you look. From television to theaters, the hit anime is thriving. Of course, the series' success made it an easy pick for Street Fighter to collab with. And now, an anime special has gone live that pits Yor Forger against Chun-Li of all people.

As you can see below, the epic throw down was inked by WIT Studio to hype the collaboration. Street Fighter puts Chun-Li on the screen in her usual blue outfit while Yor suits up in her assassin gear. Fighting against a Street Fighter backdrop, the two heroines are incredibly powerful. They match each other blow for blow, and things only get more intense from there.

After all, you know Chun-Li loves to throw kicks, and Yor feels the same. At the end of the promo, the two fighters are shown locking legs in a cross during battle. The stalemate puts a smile on Yor's lips, and even Chun-Li looks pleased about the whole thing. So of course, fans want nothing more than to see more of this fight.

For now, Yor vs Chun-Li is the only fight we've been given as part of this collaboration. We can only hope Loid and Yuri take part in the event somehow. While Street Fighter prepares to drop its next game, Spy x Family has its own big release on the horizon. This month will mark the launch of Spy x Family Code: White, after all. The movie will be the first for Spy x Family, and its original story promises to take the Forger Family on an overseas trip.

If you love this Spy x Family collaboration, you can always revisit Yor's previous fights from the anime. The hit series is streaming everywhere from Crunchyroll to Hulu. So for more information on Spy x Family, you can read its official synopsis below:

"World peace is at stake and secret agent Twilight must undergo his most difficult mission yet-pretend to be a family man. Posing as a loving husband and father, he'll infiltrate an elite school to get close to a high-profile politician. He has the perfect cover, except his wife's a deadly assassin and neither knows each other's identity. But someone does, his adopted daughter who's a telepath!"

What do you think about this Spy x Family collaboration? Do we need a new Street Fighter anime? Let us know what you think in the comments below as well as on Twitter and Instagram. You can also hit me up @MeganPetersCB to share your take!

New Dungeons & Dragons Video Game Announced by Payday 3 Developer https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/dungeons-dragons-video-game-starbreeze-project-baxter-payday-3/ Mon, 04 Dec 2023 16:35:00 +0000 Christian Hoffer 9d7f7d6b-2e01-46f0-99cc-a8c45db70464

A new Dungeons & Dragons video game is on the way from the makers of Payday 3. The Swedish video game developer Starbreeze has announced "Project Baxterm" a new Dungeons & Dragons video game project. The game is described as a four player cooperative multiplayer game built using Unreal Engine 5. The game will be set in Waterdeep and isn't a turn-based game, nor does it feature a dice-rolling system. However, Starbreeze also notes that the game isn't a hack and slash game either. From the initial description, it sounds like the game will either be a fantasy version of Payday 3 or something closer to Diablo. Starbreeze plans to release the new game in 2026 and will crossplay on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.

Starbreeze is best known for the Payday franchise, which it took over after it acquired Overkill Studios back in 2012. Starbreeze made both Payday 2 and Payday 3, along with Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. In an interview with VentureBeat, creative director Leif Westerholm noted that the game would have some similarities to the Payday franchise with some ebbs and flows and has the same "investment" as Payday 3, which was considered to be an AAA game.

Wizards of the Coast has aggressively pursued the expansion of Dungeons & Dragons as a video game brand, with Baldur's Gate 3 showing the strength of the IP. However, there have been several pratfalls along the way too, most notably Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance, which stumbled out of the game in 2021. Several other Dungeons & Dragons video games are in development at various studios, although several were reportedly cancelled by Wizards earlier this year.

More details about Project Baxter can be found at Starbreeze's website. The new game is currently scheduled for launch in 2026.

Mortal Kombat 1 Konfirmed to Receive Story DLC Like MK11 https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/mortal-kombat-1-mk1-dlc-ps5-xbox-switch-pc/ Mon, 04 Dec 2023 16:24:00 +0000 Logan Moore 2f5e5cf0-7ea7-4e41-9df6-a1538b9aef0f

Longtime Mortal Kombat boss Ed Boon has confirmed that Mortal Kombat 1 will receive a story expansion at a later date, much as NetherRealm Studios previously did with Mortal Kombat 11. Following the launch of MK11 back in 2019, an expansive story-focused piece of DLC titled Aftermath was then let loose the following year in 2020. Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath expanded on the narrative of the base game and eventually paved the way for its story to be continued in Mortal Kombat 1. Now, Boon says that NetherRealm will be doing a similar thing with MK1, but hasn't offered up too many specifics just yet.

Speaking during CCXP, Boon verified that NetherRealm has expansive plans for Mortal Kombat 1 with DLC beyond the currently announced characters arriving via the Kombat Pack. Boon specifically called back to MK11: Aftermath and said that there will be a "second part" of MK1's story that will arrive down the road. Beyond this, Boon also said that there is another "big surprise" that NetherRealm is sitting on, but failed to mention what this could be in reference to.

"Just like we did with [Mortal Kombat 11], we're going to release a second part with more story and we have a big surprise after that," Boon said of the future MK1 DLC.

In a general sense, it's not too shocking to hear that NetherRealm would look to bring a new story add-on to Mortal Kombat 1 further down the road. This is primarily because Boon said prior to the release of MK1 that NetherRealm would look to support its latest Mortal Kombat installment for a longer period of time than it did with MK11. Not to mention, Aftermath ended up being quite popular with Mortal Kombat 11 players, so it was logical that Boon and those at NetherRealm would look to do the same thing in this instance.

Currently, the only DLC for Mortal Kombat 11 that has been formally announced is the game's Kombat Pack, which kicked off last month with the arrival of Omni-Man. This past weekend, Quan Chi was confirmed to be rolling out later this month beginning on December 14 and will be followed by the additions of Peacemaker (winter 2023/2024), Ermac (spring 2024), Takeda Takahashi (summer 2024), and Homelander (spring 2024).

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.1 Patch Notes Released Revealing Huge New Features https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/cyberpunk-2077-2-1-update-patch-notes/ Mon, 04 Dec 2023 15:37:00 +0000 Tyler Fischer f692cbb6-c652-4b91-abb4-748eba48bf59

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.01 is out tomorrow on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, and while it's not as big or as important as Update 2.0, it's still a major update and one of the biggest released for the game since its launch in 2020. To this end, it includes both new content and some major new features, including the addition of a metro system, something players have wanted in the game since the game was revealed and since they learned it was in development at one point before being cut presumably to free up resources.

While we know everything the update does, courtesy of official patch notes straight from CD Projekt Red, we don't know what the file size the update is going to be. That said, it's safe to expect a meaty file size and potentially lengthy download considering the length and content of the patch notes.

New Features

  • V's issue with their NCART City Pass is resolved and they can now travel between the 19 metro stations located throughout Night City on 5 different lines via fast travel or riding the train itself while gazing out the window and watching the world go by.
  • V will now be able to invite their love interest to spend some time together in any of the apartments. Hangouts are a repeatable, unlimited event that become available once the romance path with a given character has concluded.
  • You can now listen to the radio while on foot (or while riding the NCART train) using the new Radioport feature. Available while you explore, it switches seamlessly to car radio whenever you get in a vehicle and turns off when quest-specific music starts playing. It is now also possible to adjust the volume directly in the radio window.
  • Added replayable car races V can take part in after finishing The Beast in Me. Look for race flag icons on the map and win the races to get eddies and a discount for the Autofixer website. Additionally, we improved the racers' AI to make them more competitive and made enhancements so that the whole experience is much more fun!
  • Sightseeing binoculars in various scenic spots have been added as another way to appreciate Night City's vistas.
  • REST OF THE PATCH NOTES -- Including New Vehicles, Games Fixes, and more

Cyberpunk 2077 is available via PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X. For more coverage on the popular and reemerging open-world RPG, click here.

All-Time Great Xbox RPG Is On Sale for $2.99 for 24 Hours https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/xbox-one-series-x-rpg-games-sales/ Mon, 04 Dec 2023 15:10:00 +0000 Tyler Fischer e429b4b5-7f19-490e-8a0c-7edc7183c286

An all-time great Xbox RPG is on sale for just $2.99, but the deal is only available for 24 hours. In other words, it will expire on December 5, aka Tuesday, aka tomorrow. That said, if you're reading this after December 5, there are two other great RPG Xbox deals currently available that you can take advantage of as these deals are available for another 11 days as of the moment writing this.

The highlight of the trio of deals is BioWare's Dragon Age: Origins, one of the best RPGs of the Xbox 360 and PS3 generation. This is the RPG available for just $2.99, but only until tomorrow. Meanwhile, BioWare's Jade Empire is also available for $2.49 for a limited time. And capping the dirt cheap RPG deals is Ash of Gods Redemption, which is available for only $1.99.

3 Great Xbox RPG Deals

Dragon Age Origins -- $2.99

"You are a Grey Warden, one of the last of a legendary order of guardians. With the return of an ancient foe and the kingdom engulfed in civil war, you have been chosen by fate to unite the shattered lands and slay the archdemon once and for all."

Ash of Gods Redemption -- $1.99

"Ash of Gods: Redemption is a turn-based RPG that combines tactical combat, CCG elements, and a constantly evolving story in which no one is safe from death, including the main characters. Ash of Gods is the story of three separate protagonists rising in response to a centuries-old menace once thought to be mere folklore."

Jade Empire -- $2.49

"Step into the role of an aspiring martial-arts master and follow the path of the open palm or the closed fist. In this multi-award-winning action-RPG, your choices and actions will determine the fate of the entire Jade Empire. Will you prevent the destruction of this beautiful land, or will you crush it beneath your heel? Are you a warrior who uses his strength and fighting mastery to bring peace, or will you instead use your power to bring pain and ruin? The choice is yours."

All three of these games are playable on Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X via backwards compatibility or, in the case of Ash of Gods Redemption, because it is available on these more modern Xbox consoles natively.

GTA 6 Trailer Length Revealed https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/gta-6-trailer-release-youtube/ Mon, 04 Dec 2023 14:08:00 +0000 Tyler Fischer 148ce0d0-e860-4bae-98de-fc3c077b1f0e

Rockstar Games has released the premiere link for the GTA 6 reveal trailer, which is scheduled to be released tomorrow at 9 a.m. EST. And as a result, we now know how long the trailer is going to be thanks to the metadata of said trailer. Unfortunately, for Grand Theft Auto fans, it is not very long. At the moment of writing this, over 22,000 GTA fans are already waiting for the trailer, despite the link only being live for a couple minutes and the trailer being 24 hours away. And when the trailer goes live, they will be treated to a video that is 91 seconds long, aka one minute and 31 seconds long. This of course includes all and any splash screens, so the actual length of footage will be even shorter than this.

The question now is whether or not the trailer will feature any gameplay. 91 seconds isn't very long, so it is safe to assume there won't be much in terms of story details, which is to be expected. Reveal trailers are typically in-engine or cinematic trailers with minimal story details and gameplay. In this case, we expect an in-engine, tone piece that reveals the game's rumored setting, Vice City, its rumored dual protagonists, and hints at some gameplay. That said, this is just speculation.

So far, the GTA 6 trailer has not leaked online, which is a miracle in the age of non-stop leaks. However, there are still 24 hours left for this to change and various leaks of the game -- just not the trailer -- have been making the rounds, so it's not only quite possible this will change before tomorrow, but perhaps even likely. All of this is to say, be careful between now and tomorrow. It's been a long wait to see GTA 6 and it would be terrible to spoil its reveal with less than 24 hours left.

That said, and as always, feel free to leave a comment or two letting us know what you think or, alternatively, hit me up on Twitter @Tyler_Fischer_ and let me know over there. Are you excited to finally see GTA 6?

New Upgraded PS5 Controller Possibly Leaked https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/ps5-playstation-5-dualsense-controller-leaked/ Mon, 04 Dec 2023 13:43:00 +0000 Tyler Fischer e3b4ac6a-b4cf-4cf9-b508-9b01dd33c9ba

It looks like Sony may be working a new and upgraded version of the PS5 DualSense controller. With the PS5, Sony released a brand new type of controller, abandoning its DualShock model it had during the PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4 eras. Whether it will continue with the DualSense with the PS6 or bring back the DualShock, remains to be seen. Some seem to prefer the new DualSense, but it seems most prefer the DualShock build. Whatever the case, this is looking far ahead. Before this it looks like Sony may release another DualSense controller that makes gaming easier for more casual fans of the hobby.

How do we know this? Well, a new Sony patent has been published show a DualSense with a touchscreen in place of the touchpad. And this screen lites up with the controller's buttons to nudge and prompt users of inputs. In other words, the controller guides the player through the series of inputs.

Right now, this is just a patent. And Sony patents all type of things, many of which either neither evolve beyond the conceptual stage into actual products or that transform radically over time that they hardly represent the original patent. This is to say, take this information with a grain of salt. This would not be the first Sony patent to go absolutely nowhere and it won't be the last.

At the moment of publishing, Sony has not commented on the patent in question nor the speculation it has created. It never comments on patents or speculation, so we don't expect this to change, but if for some reason this pattern is broken and it does, we will be sure to update story accordingly. In the meantime, and as always, feel free to leave a comment or two letting us know what you think. What do you think of this new patent? Would you be interested in a controller like this?

Steam Deal Gives You $50 Games for Just $1 https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/steam-deck-games-sale-rebel-galaxy/ Mon, 04 Dec 2023 12:42:00 +0000 Tyler Fischer c3bae468-e735-4472-afd7-7336f5980894

A new Steam deal gives you two games worth a total of $50 for just $1. Obviously, this deal is only available for a limited time. When exactly it expires, we don't know, however, it's limited to supplies lasting, though we currently don't how many supplies remain. Not only is the deal only available for a limited time, but it doesn't come from Valve directly. Rather, and more specifically, it comes the way of Fanatical, an authorized third-party seller of Steam keys.

The deal is part of the Dollar Collections sale live on Fanatical right now, which as the name suggests, feature a variety of game and bundle downloads for just one Washington. As for Steam Deck support, one of the two games is listed as "Playable" on Steam Deck, but unfortunately, the other is listed as "Unsupported."

As for the games in question, both come the way of Double Damage Games. The first -- which is the one that supports the Steam Deck -- is Rebel Galaxy, which was released in 2015. Over on Steam, it has attracted 6,754 user reviews, 85 percent of which are positive, giving the game a "Very Positive" rating. The second game is its 2020 follow-up, Rebel Galaxy Outlaw. It has garnered far fewer reviews, and far fewer positives reviews. To date, it's garnered a Mixed Steam user review rating after only 65 percent of 696 user reviews have been positive. The former normally runs at $19.99, while the latter runs at $29.99. As a result, right now you can save $49 on the pair of games.

See the Dollar Collections Sale on Fanatical

Rebel Galaxy: "Rebel Galaxy is a swashbuckling space adventure, with action-packed combat, exploration, discovery, trade, and "negotiation" with the outlandish denizens at the edge of the known universe. As the commander of an immensely powerful star destroyer, you'll battle pirates, explore anomalies, befriend aliens, scavenge battle wreckage, mine asteroids, and discover artifacts. Choose your path as a roguish do-gooder, crafty space-trader or power-hungry privateer - or maybe a little of each! Buy larger and more powerful craft with your hard-earned credits, and outfit them with a variety of wicked weapons and defenses. Set in a galaxy of fantastic sights, and secrets to be found, Rebel Galaxy is above all a space epic of adventure, exploration, and combat. The edge of the universe is a pretty dangerous place, so watch your back.ri?res."

Rebel Galaxy Outlaw: "Out of cash, out of luck, out on the fringe. Juno Markev has a killer to tail, a debt to pay, and more trouble headed her way. Rebel Galaxy Outlaw takes place in a greasy, blue-collar world of outlaws, truckers, cops and thieves.Strap into a variety of spacecraft, settle a score in a filthy space-bar over a game of 8-ball, rock out to over 24 hours of music, and engage in white-knuckle dogfights. In the Dodge Sector it's hard to get by - and even harder to get even."

EA Sports FC 24: Best Players for Relentless Meets Radioactive Evolution Upgrade https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/ea-sports-fc-24-best-players-relentless-meets-radioactive-evolution/ Mon, 04 Dec 2023 04:10:00 +0000 Ricky Frech aa3239c8-e097-4e19-b5b7-654c441aa8f8

With the launch of the Radioactive promo in EA Sports FC 24, developer Electronic Arts has been pumping out new content to help players fix chemistry issues in their squad. On the third day of the event, EA dropped a new Evolution upgrade that players can use to upgrade a low-rated LB to make them more usable. The new Relentless Meets Radioactive Evolution in EA Sports FC 24 lets you take a leftback and give them a big Pace boost to make them into a player who can bomb down the sidelines and set up goals from the wings. First, let's take a look at the requirements and then get into the best options for the Relentless Meets Radioactive.

What is the EAFC 24 Relentless Meets Radioactive Evolution Upgrade?

ea-sports-fc-24-1.png

In addition to the Pace boost, players will get a Weak Foot upgrade and smaller boosts across the board. However, you will need to drop either 500 FP Points or 100,000 Coins to unlock it. That makes it a bit of a tougher sell unless you just have a ton of Coins burning a hole in your pocket. Here are the requirements to keep in mind when selecting a player:

  • Max overall: 85
  • Max Pace: 80
  • Max Passing: 86
  • Position Must Not be a CB or CDM
  • Position: LB

Once you finish all of the Objectives, you'll earn +3 Overall, +3 Passing, +2 Physical, +3 Dribbling, +10 Pace, +3 Defending, +1 Weak Foot, and the Relentless PlayStyles.

The Best LBs for the Relentless Meets Radioactive Evolution

There are quite a few options to use this Evolution on, though it might still be worth skipping due to the cost. Here are the best options for the Relentless Meets Radioactive Evo:

  • Dennis Appiah - Saint-Etienne
  • Takehiro Tomiyasu - Arsenal
  • Ona Batlle - Barcelona
  • Katie McCabe - Arsenal
  • Marcos Acuna - Sevilla

Appiah is only worth using if you've been putting previous Evolutions on him. That said, if you've been keeping him updated, he is a beast. It's worth looking through the players you've used the previous wingback Evos on to see if one you have fits in the same mold as Appiah. Tomiyasu could also use previous Evos, but even his base is decent enough and is a good candidate for future Evolutions.

Batlle and McCabe are both solid players, though they might be tough to link into a squad depending on what your team makeup is. Finally, Acuna is probably the best option if you don't have other players you've already Evolved. From his base, he's getting a great upgrade and is solid fodder when you upgrade.

EA Sports FC 24 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms. The Radioactive Evolution expires on December 30.

Fortnite Festival Confirms It Won't Feature Explicit Content https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/fortnite-festival-no-explicit-content-ps5-xbox-pc/ Mon, 04 Dec 2023 03:14:00 +0000 Ricky Frech bc95e20c-d901-4b01-96a5-7925f6ecda9b

Recently, developer Epic Games launched Chapter 5 Season 1 in Fortnite. It includes all kinds of new content and crossovers, including a hilarious callback to one of the most iconic moments in Family Guy history. However, the most important part of the update is that Fortnite is introducing several new game modes into Fortnite. Not only is the long-rumored Fortnite Lego finally coming to the battle royale but fans are also getting Rocket Racing and Fortnite Festival. The latter mode is being made by Rock Band developer Harmonix and will introduce a new music game into the Fortnite universe. However, there was some confusion about what exactly Harmonix and Epic Games were doing with Fortnite Festival when it was revealed that the game has a Teen rating partially for "sexual content."

Fortunately, you can rest assured that Fortnite Festival won't have any explicit visual content. After rumors started flying on social media, the developers took to Twitter to announce that "there's no 'sex' in Fortnite Festival." Instead, the game has received its rating because of sexual references found in the lyrics of the songs users can play. That makes a lot more sense, especially if Epic is going to continue to partner with artists like Eminem for both Fortnite and Fortnite Festival.

When Does Fortnite Festival Launch?

Fortnite Festival launches on December 9. As part of the initial slate of songs, The Weeknd is kicking things off as the first "Music Icon." The event will bring a new paid Festival Pass that includes all kinds of new cosmetics and content for Festival. The main selling point is probably the three new songs, but there's also a skin for The Weeknd that players will probably love.

Past The Weeknd's drop, leaks have claimed that several other artists are on the way. While none of these have been confirmed by Epic or Harmonix, leaks claim that Lady Gaga, Linkin Park, Toto, Imagine Dragons, and Alice Cooper are also making their way to Fortnite Festival at some point. Hopefully, we'll learn much more about the future of the game once it officially releases on December 9.

Fortnite Chapter 5: Rocket Racing and Lego Fortnite

Fortnite Festival is actually the third new mode in terms of release date. Lego Fortnite will be first up on December 7, and it is "designed for people of all ages to enjoy together, the game will encourage creativity, experimentation, and collaboration through play." The mix between Fortnite's combat and the creativity found in Legos should make for a fun combo.

Meanwhile, Rocket Racing is set to drop on December 8. It's being made by Psyonix, the team behind Rocket League. Players can expect "a supersonic arcade racer where players drift, fly, and boost with friends through an ever-growing selection of tracks." It's likely going to be a fun way to race against your friends and earn some rewards.

Fortnite is available now on PlayStation, Switch, mobile, Xbox, and PC platforms.

Alan Wake 2 Teases Fan-Favorite Mode Coming This Month https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/alan-wake-2-new-game-plus-ps5-xbox-pc/ Mon, 04 Dec 2023 01:53:00 +0000 Ricky Frech f769aedb-4b5c-4c6f-beb7-672e06c3432b

Alan Wake 2 has already proven a major hit for developer Remedy Games. The sequel to the 2010 original adds a new protagonist to the franchise while taking the series further down the survival horror path. Since launch, Remedy has dropped several updates to improve performance and iron out many of the bugs that have been popping up. However, it looks like the next update is going to be the one that players want, as Remedy is teasing that it will be adding a new feature to Alan Wake 2. The much-requested New Game Plus mode will seemingly come at some point this month.

Unfortunately, Remedy didn't give players a firm idea of when to expect New Game Plus in Alan Wake 2. Instead, it simply said, "New month, new game...plus?" in its tweet announcing that the update is coming. That said, the team released several updates last month, so it wouldn't be surprising to see a separate update drop before New Game Plus comes to Bright Falls. Either way, players should have it by the end of the year unless something major changes for Remedy.

Alan Wake 2 New Game Plus

While we don't have a firm release date, Remedy has revealed some of the details about what we can expect from New Game Plus. It'll be called "Final Draft," and all of your unlocked weapons, Charms, and Words of Power will carry over. It also brings a brand-new difficulty that'll test your skills and a new alternative story with new video content. Remedy also says there will be "a few other surprises," but doesn't provide any hints on what that might be.

It's also worth noting that Alan Wake 2 is set to get a Photo Mode at some point. It's not clear if this will launch alongside the New Game Plus, but it should be coming relatively soon. On top of all that, there are two pieces of DLC that are coming at some point. Again, Remedy hasn't given any indication of when we should expect those to drop, but we do know that the first one is called Night Springs, and the second is The Lake House. Both should be out sometime next year, though Remedy may need to unexpectedly push them back if it hits any development snags.

Alan Wake 2 is out now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Elden Ring Producer Claims Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is "Some Ways Off" https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/elden-ring-shadow-of-the-erdtree-dlc-release-date-speculation/ Sun, 03 Dec 2023 23:25:00 +0000 Ricky Frech 79bc8dc1-3920-4583-8104-c06d40af6aef

Earlier this year, developer FromSoftware officially announced that it is working on the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for its hit open-world game Elden Ring. However, it's been nearly a year now, and the most we've heard about the DLC is that development is "proceeding smoothly." That was the word out of a Kadokawa (the corporation behind FromSoft) financial briefing in November. That stance was further backed up by Elden Ring producer Yasuhiro Kitao during the PlayStation Partner Awards 2023 in Japan.

The statement was first reported by Game Watch (and then translated by GamingBolt). Kitao said the Shadow of the Erdtree is "still some way off, but we are making good progress. Like Bloodborne and other games, there will be new battles and characters. Please look forward to something new." He would then go on to say that FromSoft plans to talk about Shadow of the Ertree at "another time."

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree at The Game Awards

It has been widely rumored that Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is coming out early next year. Obviously, Kitao's statement doesn't give any hints as to if that's actually the case, but the "another time" could be coming very soon. After all, The Game Awards 2023 is taking place next week, and FromSoftware has shown up with several trailers at the event over the years. In fact, last year's event included a trailer for Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon.

That doesn't mean Shadow of the Erdtree is a sure bet to show up next week, but it would fit in with what we've seen from the show and FromSoft in the past. Plus, if the plan is to release Shadow of the Erdtree by next spring, it's hard to imagine a bigger stage to announce it on. Fortunately, we don't have to wait much longer as The Game Awards 2023 kick off on December 7 at 6:30 PM CT.

What is Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree?

One important thing to note about Shadow of the Erdtree is that we don't actually know much about it yet. The team at FromSoftware announced it back in February with the message "Rise, Tarnished, and let us walk a new path together. An upcoming expansion for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, is currently in development. We hope you look forward to new adventures in the Lands Between."

Outside of some cryptic key art, the team hasn't really shared anything else of note to this point. Obviously, that'll all change when the team decides to finally talk about the upcoming DLC. It'll also be very interesting to see how much content FromSoftware packs in the Shadow of the Erdtree as it's been reported that, at one point, there were several story DLCs planned for Elden Ring.

Elden Ring is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms.

Fortnite's New Peter Griffin Skin Features Incredible Death Animation https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/fortnite-peter-griffin-skin-death-animation-ps5-xbox-pc/ Sun, 03 Dec 2023 22:03:00 +0000 Ricky Frech 12ad9349-e43d-4f06-9c76-159f67fad7b2

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1 features several fun crossovers. That's par for the course in developer Epic Games' battle royale, but this time around players can pick up skins for characters like Peter Griffin from Family Guy and Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid. There's also a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration on the horizon, but it's Peter Griffin's new skin that has everyone in the Fortnite community talking. The new skin isn't just funny because of how ridiculous it is, but Peter features a unique death animation that calls back to one of the most iconic moments in Family Guy's history.

Peter Griffin Hurts His Knee Meme in Fortnite

In the twentieth episode of Season 2 of Family Guy ("Wasted Talent"), Peter trips and hurts his knee. The pain he feels afterward continues for a hilariously long time, especially for a show that's known to drop jokes every few seconds. It's quickly become a fan-favorite moment that the show has gone back to several times.

As it turns out, they aren't the only ones. As spotted by Guille_GAG on Twitter, if you take out the Peter Griffin boss in Fortnite, he does the meme. Of course, Epic doesn't linger on the animation nearly as long as the show does, but it's still a great touch. Fortnite is generally pretty good at getting the details right, but this is another level of quality, which makes sense when you consider how big the developers went to start Chapter 5.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1

As mentioned, Peter isn't the only new character you can find in Fortnite. In fact, he's one of just five boss characters you can find on the island. If you take them all out, you'll earn an item that regenerates your shield while also showing everyone your location on the map. However, that's just the tip of the iceberg in Chapter 5 Season 1.

We also know that the Lego Fortnite mode is finally coming on December 7. Epic describes it as a mode that is "designed for people of all ages to enjoy together, the game will encourage creativity, experimentation, and collaboration through play." On top of that, we'll also be getting the Rocket Racing mode on December 8. This is being developed by Psyonix, the team behind Rocket League, and is described as "a supersonic arcade racer where players drift, fly, and boost with friends through an ever-growing selection of tracks."

Finally, the developers are introducing Fortnite Festival on December 9, which is a new music game from Harmonix. It will be a place "where players can play in a band with friends or perform solo on stage with hit music by their favorite artists." With the Rock Band studio behind it, it's sure to be a well-made music title.

Fortnite is available now on PlayStation, Switch, Xbox, mobile, and PC platforms.

Disney Lorcana: Is The Disney100 Collector's Edition Gift Set Worth It? https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/disney-lorcana-disney100-collectors-edition-gift-set-review/ Sun, 03 Dec 2023 20:33:00 +0000 Christian Hoffer 91175da2-bc93-4f67-85af-b0849fe0e3cb

Disney Lorcana has a new gift set out now, but the question is whether the set is worth the heightened price tag. As part of the recent Rise of the Floodborn rollout, Ravensburger recently released a new Disney Lorcana gift set. The new Disney100 Collector's Edition comes with six promo cards with variant art illustrated by beloved Disney animators. Because of the Disney100 branding and the fact that the new gift box contains cards that currently can't be purchased anywhere else, the immediate question is whether the new gift box is actually worth the $49.99 MSRP (or even higher, depending on if potential buyers look at either the secondary market or local game stores).

From the outset, the Disney100 Collector's Edition is an upgrade over The First Chapter gift set if only because of what player's actually get in the box. The First Chapter gift set came with two foil versions of The First Chapter card (Mulan - Imperial Soldier and Hades - King of Olympus) along with two oversized foil versions of the same cards. The issue with The First Chapter gift set is that both cards featured in the set were also available in booster packs, meaning that buyers weren't getting anything unique save for the oversized foil cards.

The Disney100 Collector's Edition is $20 more expensive but comes with six unique cards that can't be found anywhere else and are (according to Ravensburger staff commentary on Discord) a limited product. Currently, several of the cards are selling for an inflated price online as well. The median price for both Elsa - Gloves Off and Stitch - Abomination are both over $10, and the combined median price of all six cards are $56.91. We'll note that prices are likely inflated right now due to high demand and lack of supply as the gift set just hit mass retail this week, but the prices indicate that, for now at least, people seem to want at least a few of the cards.

One other note about the promo variant cards - many people, ourselves included, have reported significant curling of their promo cards when they open their gift set. Curling is a common issue with foil cards and is caused by differences in humidity from where the cards were printed and where they were stored/opened. A curled card isn't considered damaged in the eyes of most collectors and there are a variety of ways to fix the curling ranging from simply placing them in the pages of a heavy book to using humidor packages or silica gel packages in an air-tight container to restore the card's humidity to match that of their original printing environment. You can check out various articles about "pringling" or foil curling if you wish to flatten out your cards. Be careful, though, as any attempts to flatten a card comes with the risk of damaging those cards permanently.

Ultimately - buying the Disney100 Collector's Edition will come down to just how much value a person puts on the promo cards. If you're just looking to get your hands on Disney Lorcana cards, there are certainly more cost efficient methods of getting cards (the Illumineer's Trove has the same MSRP and comes with twice as many booster packs as the Collector's Edition.) But if you want the promo cards and you can find the gift set at MSRP, it's definitely worth adding the cards to your collection.

Mortal Kombat 1 Reveals Quan Chi Gameplay Trailer https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/mortal-kombat-1-quan-chi-gameplay-trailer-ps5-xbox-pc/ Sun, 03 Dec 2023 20:30:00 +0000 Ricky Frech 6210d209-d8aa-4099-a642-ef719d81839c

Late last week, Mortal Kombat 1 director Ed Boon revealed that the team at NetherRealm would be giving fans a new gameplay trailer featuring Quan Chi at CCXP in Brazil today. The trailer is finally here, and it features two and a half minutes of Quan Chi dominating his opponent. Of course, Quan Chi isn't the only character in the trailer, as he'll be launching alongside Kameo Fighter Khameleon. What's even better than seeing the two players in action is that we also got a release date. Players will get early access to Quan Chi on December 14 if they buy the Premium Edition or Kombat Pack. Meanwhile, Khameleon is coming in early 2024. If the Mortal Kombat 1 trailer is anything to go by, they will both be a blast.

Quan Chi Gameplay Trailer Mortal Kombat 1

As expected from Quan Chi's previous appearances in the franchise, he's going to use a ton of dark magic to take out his foes. We see him using portals to bring forth tentacle monsters and to teleport his opponent into compromising positions. Quan Chi also has several moves that shoot out magical skull missiles and can even construct a bone prison around his enemy.

It all adds up to a moveset that looks like it'll be tough to master, but once you do, it will consistently keep your opponent on their toes. For example, Quan Chi has several moves that teleport his own body parts into unexpected attacks. We see him kick at Sub-Zero's knees only for a portal to move the attack to his head instead. Obviously, the more you fight Quan Chi, the more you'll be ready for tricky attacks like that, but you certainly wouldn't call his attacks straightforward.

Speaking of tricky, the trailer also gives us a look at Khameleon in action. When she was a full fighter, she was known for being able to imitate other ninjas to mix things up. It's impossible to say for sure how that's being implemented here, but she's definitely changing her abilities every time she's used as an attack. Most likely, it's just dependent on what buttons you press, but it could be something you're able to change in the background before bringing her out as a Kameo Fighter. We'll just have to wait for her launch to know for sure.

Mortal Kombat 1 Peacemaker Tease

Of course, this wouldn't be a Mortal Kombat 1 trailer without a tease of what's coming next. At the very end of Quan Chi's trailer, we see Peacemaker enter the fray. Obviously, we already knew he was coming as part of the Kombat Pack, but this seems to confirm that he'll be the next fighter up. Hopefully, we start to hear about his release date by the end of January, as it'll be hilarious to have the John Cena-voiced hero in MK1.

Mortal Kombat 1 is available now on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

EA Sports FC 24: Best Players for Radioactive Maestro Evolution Upgrade https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/ea-sports-fc-24-best-players-radioactive-maestro-evolution-ps5-xbox-pc/ Sun, 03 Dec 2023 19:59:00 +0000 Ricky Frech a267dddd-c889-444e-aa30-ba40eaadc1c8

With the launch of the Radioactive promo in EA Sports FC 24, developer Electronic Arts has been pumping out new content to help players fix chemistry issues in their squad. As part of the event, EA has dropped new Evolution upgrades that players can use to upgrade lower-rated players into stars. The new Radioactive Maestro Evolution in EA Sports FC 24 lets you take a midfielder and give them a nice Passing boost to make them into a player who can pull the strings for your attack in the middle of the pitch. First, let's take a look at the requirements and then get into the best options for the Radioactive Maestro.

What is the EAFC 24 Radioactive Maestro Evolution Upgrade?

ea-sports-fc-24.jpg

In addition to the Passing boost, players will get a few solid PlayStyles and smaller boosts across the board. The best part of it is that this Evolution is completely free. Even if one of the players below doesn't fit your squad, you can grab a free 87 OVR player for SBC fodder. Here are the requirements to keep in mind when selecting a player:

  • Max overall: 84
  • Max Pace: 85
  • Max Passing: 80
  • Max Dribbling: 85
  • Position: CM

Once you finish all of the Objectives, you'll earn +3 Overall, +5 Passing, +2 Physical, +2 Shooting, +3 Dribbling, +2 Pace, +2 Defending, and the Long Ball Pass and Incisive Pass PlayStyles.

The Best CMs for the Radioactive Maestro Evolution

There are quite a few options to use this Evolution on, especially if you're a Real Madrid fan. Here are the best options for the Radioactive Maestro Evo:

  • Moises Caicedo - Chelsea
  • Camavinga - Real Madrid
  • Aurelien Tchouameni - Real Madrid
  • Warren Zaire-Emery - PSG
  • Jean-Ricner Bellegarde - Wolves
  • Renato Sanches - Roma

Caicedo might seem like an odd pick because he already has an actual Radioactive card. However, if you've been using past Evos on him, he's actually a great option that you can get all the way up to 87 OVR. The same is true for Zaire-Emery, Bellegarde, and Sanches. All four players are solid, but you can't unlock their full potential without several previous Evolutions.

If you don't have previous Evolutions available, you can use this Evo on Camavinga or Tchouameni and get a usable player without any extra work. Both guys have great links with Real Madrid and France, but Camavinga is probably the best option of the two.

EA Sports FC 24 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms. The Radioactive Evolution expires on December 29.

Disney Lorcana's Pawpsicle Card Reminds Players That Any Card Can Be Incredibly Dangerous https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/disney-lorcana-pawpsicle-combo-hiram-flaversham/ Sun, 03 Dec 2023 18:50:00 +0000 Christian Hoffer b44ae7a9-913b-4aac-a837-c20d758ff8af

As expected, the Pawpsicle is dominating Disney Lorcana right now. The common item card, which is currently selling for about $0.15 on TCGPlayer, is part of a potent combo that has emerged from Rise of the Floodborn, the newest card set just released at mass retailers this week. The Pawpsicle itself has two abilities - players can draw a card when it enters play and they can banish the item to heal 2 damage from a character card. But what makes it especially potent is that it synergizes with two other cards - Nick Wilde - Wily Fox and Hiram Flaversham - Toymaker, which allows players to create a busted card draw combo that's proven hard to beat in the early weeks of the new metagame.

The combination works as follows: the Pawpsicle enters play first, followed by Hiram Flaversham - Toymaker, which allows players to banish an item when it enters play to draw 2 cards. Players banish the Pawpsicle to trigger the card draw effect, and then play Nick Wilde the following turn, which allows players to pull a Pawpsicle card from the discard pile and back into their hand. They can then play the Pawpsicle (gaining another card draw) and banish it again by questing with Hiram Flaversham, gaining two more cards in the process. Over the course of the two turns since Hiram Flaversham entered play, a player can potentially draw five additional cards, which can be used to either fuel Sapphire's signature inkwell ramp effects or get other cards into play.

While the combo isn't entirely beatable (Steel decks can use "A Whole New World" to force a hand discard as early as turn 5, which would totally negate their opponent's cards in hand), it's quickly become a staple within Disney Lorcana's metagame. Even more importantly, the combo can actually be found within one of the two Rise of the Floodborn Starter Decks, although players will need to augment those decks a bit since there's only one Hiram Flaversham card in that pre-constructed deck.

You can try out this new card combo now, with Rise of the Floodborn cards available in stores.

Star Wars Shatterpoint Heads to Original Trilogy With New Releases https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/star-wars-shatterpoint-luke-skywalker-darth-vader/ Sun, 03 Dec 2023 15:53:00 +0000 Christian Hoffer 568a74ee-b25c-4f1b-bb45-c955a2db6613

Star Wars: Shatterpoint is kicking off 2024 with its first Squad Packs focused on characters from the original Star Wars trilogy. This week, Atomic Mass Games officially announced the "Fearless and Inventive" and the "Fear and Dead Men" Squad Packs, which brings Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader to Star Wars: Shatterpoint as Primary Units. The "Fearless and Inventive" Squad Pack features Skywalker, Princess Leia in her Boussh disguise as a Secondary Unit, and Lando Calrissian and R2-D2 as Supporting Units. All four characters' sculpts are based on their appearances during the opening act of Return of the Jedi, when the group infiltrated Jabba the Hutt's palace to rescue Han Solo. Meanwhile, "Fear and Dead Men" features Darth Vader and a trio of Stormtroopers, with Lt. TK-289 serving as a secondary unit. Both Squad Packs are set to be released on January 26, 2024.

In Star Wars: Shatterpoint, players battle over objective points on the tabletop, using a variety of abilities and actions unique to each unit. Players build their Strike Teams for Star Wars: Shatterpoint by building two Squads made up of a Primary Unit, a Secondary Unit, and a Supporting Unit. Each Squad pack for Star Wars: Shatterpoint comes with a pre-built squad, although the rules specify that you can mix and match units from different squad packs together, provided the figures meet certain points requirements and all come from the same era. To this point, all of the releases have focused on characters from the Prequel Trilogy era, with the sole exception of a "Duel Pack" featuring Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi in a scene pulled straight from the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series.

These are the first new releases for Star Wars: Shatterpoint in several months. No specific reason has been given for the nearly four month gap between releases.

GTA Online Brings Back GTA 4 Character in New Update https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/gta-5-online-gta-4-character-yusuf-amir-returning/ Sun, 03 Dec 2023 05:26:00 +0000 Cade Onder d2327527-ab62-4d61-b822-224deb2809cb

GTA Online is bringing back a character from Grand Theft Auto IV in an upcoming update. The Grand Theft Auto franchise has a pretty colorful cast of characters. Going back to the PS2-era, Rockstar Games brought in some of the biggest celebrities out there to voice its characters with Ray Liotta playing Tommy in Vice City, Samuel L. Jackson playing Officer Tenpenny in San Andreas, Burt Reynolds as Avery Carrington in Vice City, and the list goes on. Eventually, Rockstar Games moved to casting more unknown actors for the Grand Theft Auto series, resulting in people being able to view them more as just the characters and not see famous movie stars in them.

Grand Theft Auto 4 featured a ton of really eccentric characters, some of which returned in smaller roles in Grand Theft Auto V. Brucie, Johnny, Packie, and others all made their way over to San Andreas for the next game and we've even seen people like Gay Tony pop up in GTA Online. As fans eagerly await the next Grand Theft Auto game, Rockstar is continuing to update GTA Online. The developer recently began teasing its next big update for December and confirmed a bunch of quality of life changes to the game including the addition of animals. On top of that, Rockstar confirmed via a press release that we'll see the return of Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony character Yusuf Amir. We have no idea what role he will play, but he had some of the most absurd missions in that aforementioned game and was wildly wealthy. It would not be surprised if he has some more elaborate schemes for you in GTA Online.

Rockstar Games has been doing big new content updates for GTA Online every 6 months or so for the last couple of years. It's possible we may be approaching the end of GTA Online as Rockstar Games is gearing up to start marketing Grand Theft Auto 6. We have no idea what the developer plans to do for the next game's online mode, but it would not be surprising if we start over completely from scratch.

The Witcher 4 Will Be Accessible to Newcomers, But Also Fans of "Geralt's Adventures" https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/the-witcher-4-update-newcomers-geralt/ Sun, 03 Dec 2023 03:58:00 +0000 Cade Onder 896be268-ccd9-462b-a544-93e7a0bb5fdd

The Witcher 4 will offer an entry point for new players. The Witcher series is one of the most revered RPG franchises in gaming, but it was believed to have largely concluded with The Witcher 3. Thankfully, that's not the case. CD Projekt Red has confirmed it is doing an all-new trilogy of Witcher games and the next game is currently the studio's priority following completion of Cyberpunk 2077. Fans are really eager to return to that world, especially after enjoying the Netflix series in recent years, but we will still have quite a while to wait.

The Witcher 4 is currently in development, but we know nothing about it. We don't even really know if Geralt will be the protagonist again or if we will follow someone new. Either way, fans are still excited to return to that world. However, if you haven't played the first three games and really don't have any desire to, you will be able to play the new game with ease. Game director Sebastian Kalemb told Lega Nerd that the game is being designed in a way to appeal to new players as well as longtime fans since it will have been so long between entries that it would be silly to assume everyone has been keeping up with the franchise the whole time. It does sound like Geralt will be involved with the game, but to what level we have no idea.

"We want to continue on the same path we've taken, but we don't want to make the same game," he said. "I think that's a given. We've got some lore elements that must be kept. After all, it is still the same universe, and we can't go beyond certain limits. Therefore, we must follow a very specific path and innovate on that. At the same time, it's clear that we have to try to appease a new public. The Witcher 4 won't be out for some years, and it'll be a long time since the previous one, so we cannot just target the audience already fond of the saga. We must also build a new community. On that note, I believe I can say it'll be an excellent entry point for many players, without forgetting the long-time fans who still wish to follow Geralt's adventures."

As of right now, we're not expecting The Witcher 4 to arrive before 2025. It will be a while, but CD Projekt Red has confirmed that it plans to release the trilogy in a relatively quick succession so you won't be waiting entire console generations or decades between games like some other franchises are doing at the moment.

New PS5 Exclusive Gets February Release Date: "My Most Anticipated Game of All Time" https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/ps5-playstation-5-exclusive-game-release-date-pacific-drive/ Sun, 03 Dec 2023 01:38:00 +0000 Tyler Fischer fc1f2f8e-5d3c-4140-bbf4-219ac5a57116

A new PS5 exclusive has a February release date, and PlayStation fans are excited for it. As you may know, in January, PlayStation fans are being treated to their first notable PS5 exclusive in the form of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered. A month later, on February 22, they are being treated to their second notable exclusive, though this release won't be a true exclusive, but a console exclusive. This is to say it's also coming to PC, but it's not coming to Xbox consoles or the Nintendo Switch.

The game in question is Pacific Drive from developer Ironwood Studios and publisher Kepler Interactive. Announced in September of 2022, it was originally scheduled to release in 2023 before being delayed to early 2024. And now we know exactly when in early 2024 it is coming, the aforementioned February 22.

Upon hearing the game is going to be released on February 22, 2024, PlayStation fans seem excited. Of course, it's impossible to gauge widespread interest. We won't know how anticipated the game is until we see how many copies it sells, but right now there are many PlayStation fans excited for it.

"This has quickly become my most anticipated game of all time, it's been awesome following this," says one PlayStation fan looking forward to the game. "I've been waiting for this game for so long. It looks amazing," adds a second comment. A third comment further adds: "genuinely my most anticipated game of 2024."

For what it's worth, the game seems to be attracting interest from the hardcore space and those who enjoy smaller, indie games rather than mainstream PlayStation gamers who probably have never heard of this title. And this is no surprise considering it's a smaller game in nature.

"In the shadow of towering evergreens in the Pacific Northwest, you find yourself trapped behind a 300-meter wall," reads an official blurb about the game. "Why was it built and who or what are Remnants? Mysterious voices traverse the airwaves questioning you, warning you. Battling against the elements and anomalies, only one thing is certain, you and your car won't leave The Zone unchanged. Left untouched for over thirty years, the Olympic Exclusion Zone is home to all manners of hazards and mysterious phenomena known as anomalies. With only your station wagon for company, navigate the winding roads as you attempt to untangle a web of secrets that have surrounded the area since the 50s. Gather resources to upgrade your car and uncover more clues as you venture further and farther out into the unknown."
